CONSTITUTION OF HOLY FAMILY SCHOOL
HOME & SCHOOL ASSOCIATION
ALBANY, MINNESOTA


PREAMBLE:

The goal of the Home and School Association of Holy Family School is to help parents and
teachers better appreciate the soundness of Catholic Education, to promote mutual educational
concerns, to serve as the fund raising arm of the school, and to serve the community’s needs.
All parents who have students at Holy Family School are members of the Home and School
Association.

ARTICLE I
                    OFFICERS

    Section 1.    The elected officers shall be president, vice-president/treasurer and  secretary.

    Section 2.    The vice-president shall succeed to the office of president at the completion of a
                      one-year term as vice-president.

    Section 3.    A vice-president/treasurer shall be elected every year while a secretary will
                         be elected on alternate years.

    Section 4.    The term of office for secretary shall be for two years.  No officer
                       shall consecutively hold the same office for more than two terms (four years).

ARTICLE II
                DUTIES OF OFFICERS

    Section 1.    The president shall preside at the Home and School Association meetings, at the
                       Executive Committee meetings, shall appoint committee chairpersons with the
                       approval of the Executive Committee, and shall perform other duties that pertain
                       to this office.

    Section 2.     The vice-president/treasurer shall assume the duties of the president in the absence of the
                       president and be responsible for financial records.  The financial responsibilities are typically
                        delegated to the principal and bookkeeper.

    Section 3.    The secretary shall keep the minutes of all Home & School Association meetings
                       and Executive Meetings, shall keep a list of current members, shall notify
                       members of committee appointments, and perform other duties that pertain to
                       this office.

   

ARTICLE III

                EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

                      The Executive Committee shall consist of the president, vice-president/treasurer,
                      secretary and principal.  This committee shall responsibility for the
                      Association’s business affairs, committee appointments, review of committee
                      reports and any other duties incumbent upon said committee.


ARTICLE IV

                COMMITTEES

                     Provision shall be made for the establishment of such committees as are deemed
                     necessary by the Executive Committee.  Such committees are to be approved by
                     the majority of the assembled members.


ARTICLE V

                ELECTIONS

                     Election shall take place by written ballot at the spring meeting.  A show of
                     hands vote will be used if there is only one nominee.


ARTICLE VI

                AMENDMENTS

    Section 1.    Meetings of the Home and School Association will be held in Holy Family
                      School.

    Section 2.    Four business meetings of the Home and School shall be held each year: 
                       Sept., Nov., Feb., and Apr.

    Section 3.    Regular and Special meetings shall be convened after they have been duly
                      announced in the parish bulletin the Sunday preceding the meeting date.

    Section 4.    Agendas for the Home and School Association meetings shall be disseminated to
                      parents of students at Holy Family School prior to the meeting.
   
    Section 5.    At the last meeting of the school year the budget for the following school year will be
                        approved.  New proposals must be approved by a majority of the members present at the meeting. 
                        For expenditures exceeding $2500 a minimum of seven members must be present.


ARTICLE VII

            STANDING RULES
     This section of the Constitution can be amended by a simple majority vote at any regular
     meeting.

    Section 1.    The Home and School Association shall not become a pressure group that
                       interferes with and /or dictates to the school.

    Section 2.    The Home and School Association shall not become a social group only, but
                       rather keep its goal as an educational organization.
